Description
Long-tailed ground roller (Uratelornis chimaera) perching on a branch. This bird is endemic to the south-west of Madagascar. It inhabits deciduous forests and coastal scrub and can grow to 47 centimetres in length. The long-tailed ground roller spends the majority of its time on the ground, but will occasionally sit on a branch to sing. It forages on the ground for insects. It is a monogamous bird and pairs are highly territorial. Photographed at Ifaty Beach, Madagascar.
