Description
London Eye, London, UK, at night. This enormous structure (left), formerly known as the Millennium Wheel, opened in 2000 and, at 135 metres high, is the tallest observational wheel in the world. It is situated on the South Bank of the River Thames. On the opposite bank is Big Ben and the Houses of Parliament (right). Also known as the Palace of Westminister, the Houses of Parliament includes the House of Commons, the House of Lords and Westminister Hall. Contrary to popular belief, Big Ben does not refer to the clocktower, but to the bell that strikes within it.
