Description
Las Vegas Motor Speedway, Nevada, USA. This complex of race tracks spans 6.5 square kilometres of land north east of Las Vegas. It opened in 1996 and cost $200 million to construct. There are over a dozen different venues including go-karting tracks, road courses and a drag racing strip (centre left to lower left). At upper right is the bull ring, a short track (600 metres). At lower left is the dirt track, a 800 metre clay oval. At upper centre is the superspeedway. The tri-oval track is 800 metres long and banks at up to 31 degrees. Its stands seat 120,000 spectators. Also in the complex are garages and car parks. Taken by the Ikonos satellite on 29 January 2002.
