Description
Large blue butterfly (Maculinea arion) amongst wild flowers. The large blue is resident in Europe and some parts of Asia. Large blues became extinct in the United Kingdom in 1979, but have since been reintroduced by conservationists. Uncommon everywhere in the world, the large blue primarily resides in heaths, sand dunes and hillsides.
