Lace production, 19th century. Illustration of a woman producing a piece of lace. Lace is a style of openwork, woven fabric, and can be used to produce a wide variety of patterns. Artwork from volume 6 (1874) of a republication of 'Les Grandes Usines', a multi-volume work on French industry by journalist and author Julien Turgan (1824-1887).
