Description
John Harvard (1607-1638). Bronze statue of the English minister in America John Harvard, overlooking Harvard Yard main campus, Harvard University, Massachusetts, USA. Harvard is best known as one of the founders of Harvard College at Harvard University. On his death he bequeathed 780 and his library of 329 publications and books to a new college being built. As a result it was decided to name the college in his honour. This sculpture was made by the US sculptor Daniel Chester French in 1884.
