Jesus the healer. 12th-century mosaic of Jesus Christ (centre, with halo) laying his hands on a woman (right) to heal her, while a group looks on at left. It is thought that the woman was suffering from rheumatoid arthritis. Latin text is at upper right. This mosaic is located in Monreale Cathedral, Monreale, Sicily, Italy. This Norman cathedral (dedicated 1182) is famous for its brightly coloured mosaics, built with the skills of Byzantine and Arab artists and craftsmen.
