Description
James Webb Space Telescope (JWST) mirror. Technician inspecting six gold-plated mirror segments for the JWST. The JWST, an infrared telescope that is scheduled to be launched in 2018, has 18 such segments. By using infrared wavelengths, it will be able to see through much of the dust that obscures visible light. It will also study dark matter, thought to form the majority of the matter in the universe. Photographed at NASA's Marshall Space Flight Center, Alabama, USA.
