Description
ISS in southern hemisphere skies. The diagonal line from centre right to lower left is the track of the International Space Station (ISS). The ISS orbits the Earth at a height of around 360 kilometres. It takes 92 minutes to complete an orbit, and has been crewed since October 2000. Also seen here are a band of the Milky Way (lower left), the Large Magellanic Cloud (upper centre), the Small Magellanic Cloud (upper right) and the bright star Canopus (near top left). Some clouds are at top, with the sea at bottom. Photographed from Miramar, Argentina, on 2 January 2013.
