Description
Inukshuk. Inuit stone marker, known as an Inukshuk, above the town of Iqaluit, Nunavut, Canada. An inukshuk is a stone landmark used as a milestone or directional marker by the Inuit of the Canadian Arctic. The Arctic Circle has few natural landmarks and thus the inukshuk was central to navigation across the barren tundra. From the book 'What I Eat: Around the World in 80 Diets' by Peter Menzel and Faith D'Aluisio.
