Description
Interferon gamma complex. Computer model showing the structure of an interferon gamma dimer (pink, green) complexed with an interferon gamma receptor (blue). Interferon gamma is produced by certain immune cells (T cells, dendritic cells and NK cells) as part of the immune response to invading pathogens and tumours. It is able to directly inhibit viral replication and also prompts neighbouring cells to produce protective enzymes and activates immune system cells.
