Hot spring mineral terraces, Dallol, Ethiopia. The hot springs in this area are part of the hydrothermal activity associated with magma intrusion into ancient salt deposits and a nearby volcano. The activity forms these mineral terraces and salt deposits, including brine, acidic lakes and deposits of potash. Photographed in January 2011.
