Description
Homer Smith (1895-1962), US physiologist, using a microscope. Smith focused most of his work on the kidney and discovered inulin at the same time as Alfred Richards. His 1930s experiments on the kidney proved beyond any doubt that it operated according to physical principles, both as a filter and a secretory organ. Photographed in Woods Hole, Massachusetts, USA.
