This antibody acts against HIV type 1 (HIV-1) and is known as CH103. HIV causes AIDS (acquired immune deficiency syndrome). The antibody neutralises the effect of the virus, helping to prevent the onset of AIDS, and is being studied for use in HIV antibody therapy.
