Description
Heart attack ECG. Electrocardiogram (ECG) showing abnormal heartbeat suffered during myocardial infarction (heart attack). Four ECG traces show the irregular electrical activity of the heartbeat with an alteration of heartbeat in each trace. The abnormal heartbeat in myocardial infarction may be associated with the atria or ventricles of the heart, or both. This can be read from the ECG and diagnosed. Myocardial infarction is caused by a cessation of the blood supply that feeds the heart muscles with death of heart tissue. Heart attack occurs usually when a thrombus (clot) develops in a coronary artery of the heart. It is fatal in about 50% of cases.
