Description
A view of Hasylab, the synchrotron radiation laboratory at DESY, the German particle physics laboratory in Hamburg. Synchrotron radiation consists of photons ranging in wavelength from visible light to hard X-rays. It is emitted when electrons go through a magnetic field, as occurs in synchrotron & other electron accelerators. Hasylab's synchrotron radiation is produced by the DORIS II electron & positron storage ring accelerator. Synchrotron radiation's intensity is many orders of magnitude higher than conventional photon sources & is therefore attractive for a wide variety of materials & biological sciences experiments.
