Description
Green heron (Butorides virescens). This bird is found in wetlands from southern Canada to northern South America. Like all herons, it uses its long legs to wade in water to catch its prey of fish and other water animals using its long beak. Its body length is generally less than 50 centimetres. Photographed by the Wekiva River, Florida, USA.
