Great basin. False colour satellite image of part of the Great Basin, Nevada, USA. Mountain ranges are green, snow is blue, desert valleys are brown and dry lake beds are white. At the right of the image are salt pans. The Great Basin is a closed system with no drainage to the sea. Image taken by the Landsat 5 satellite on 29th June 1989.
