GPM rainfall satellite testing. Engineers at NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center testing the core observatory satellite for the Global Precipitation Measurement (GPM) mission. The test being carried out here is vibration testing of the horizontal axis of the spacecraft. The GPM weather satellite, a joint NASA-JAXA mission, will calibrate readings from a network of other satellites. Its instruments are the Dual-Frequency Precipitation Radar (DPR) and the GPM Microwave Imager (GMI). The GPM satellite launched on 27 February 2014. Photographed in November 2013.
