Artist's Description
Blood sampling infection. Gloved hand pricked on the finger by the needle of a syringe used to take a sample of venous blood. Unless punctured, as in this case, rubber gloves prevent the blood to blood transmission of infection. Diseases that can spread from contaminated blood include syphilis, hepatitis B, malaria and AIDS (acquired immune deficiency syndrome). Blood samples are taken to check on blood composition and quality.
