Description
Flower seeds. Each of these seeds has a parachute- like structure of fine hairs (called a pappus). It is the pappus that allows these seeds to be borne away by the wind. The dandelion is a common flower that uses this method of seed dispersal, though it is used by many other plants as well. Photographed in Italy.
