Description
Comfrey. View of leaves and flowers of comfrey (Symphytum officinale). The crushed leaves of this plant are warmed and used locally as a remedy on sprains, bruises and inflammation. It is also used to promote the healing of boils and ulcers. Drinking small amounts of a decoction of comfrey is helpful in relieving diarrhoea. Hot drinks made from the roots and leaves are used as demulcents, lining the throat and easing the pain of coughs and sore throats. The plant also has an emollient effect (softening the skin), and is used in many creams and preparations.
