Fish louse (Argulus foliaceus), light micrograph. This crustacean is an ectoparasite of freshwater fish, found throughout the temperate world. It grows up to 7 millimetres in length and attaches to its host using two suckers (orange circles). When attached it pierces the fish's skin and sucks its blood.
