Fehling's reaction. Fehling's reagent, which is ordinarily blue, reacts with aldehydes to form an orange precipitate. An aldehyde is an organic compound that contains a carbonyl group (an oxygen atom joined to a carbon atom by a double bond) that is bonded to at least one hydrogen atom.
