Fault. Fault line in coastal igneous rocks. The dark inclusion of basalt in the pink rhyolite is seen to have slipped apart at lower right along the line of the fault. Faults are areas in which two masses of rock are moving past each other. This occurs due to the enormous forces that build up in the Earth's crust. Igneous rocks are those which formed from solidified magma (molten rock). Photographed in Corsica.
