Maori. An engraving of a tattooed Maori from New Zealand, published in 1777 in a book recounting the voyages of James Cook. New Zealand was occupied by the Polynesian Maoris some time before the 14th century. Cook sailed to New Zealand in 1769 and again in 1773 and 1776.
