Egg fragments. Fossilised remains of the egg of an elephant bird (Aepyornis maximus). The elephant bird is the largest bird to have existed on Earth and its eggs were larger than those of most dinosaurs. The bird was a member of the order Ratitae, which includes other flightless birds such as the ostrich and cassowary.
