Conceptual illustration representing sight, and the range of the electromagnetic spectrum (EM) that the human eye can detect. The EM spectrum extends from gamma rays at high frequencies to radio waves at low frequency, but the human eye can only detect radiation in the range 380-720 nanometres (3800-7200 Angstroms). For this reason, this part of the spectrum is called optical radiation.
