Description
Edward Weston (1850-1936), British-US chemist and electrical engineer. After studying as a physician Weston emigrated to the USA where he worked for an electroplating company. He made a number of improvements to the process and invented a DC generator that supplied a constant current, increasing the quality of the electroplating. Weston also designed a carbon filament for incandescent lights as well as inventing a number of instruments to measure electrical current. In 1893 in invented the saturated cadmium cell. It produced such a stable voltage that it became the international standard for measuring electromotive force.
