Description
Rana esculenta, an edible frog found throughout Europe. Although not native to Britian, several colonies have been introduced. The picture shows a male frog, semi-submerged in a pond, with its vocal sacs fully inflated as it calls to attract a female. Only mature females respond to the call & mating follows.
