Description
Earwigs in the flower of an arum lily (Family Araceae). Earwigs (Order Dermaptera) are nocturnal insects that feed on insects and plants. The arum lily is capable of generating heat in its flowers to attract insects to aid the pollination process. The flower consists of a central spadix that is surrounded by the leaf-like spathe. This flower and the earwigs are from the Ecuadorian Amazon.
