Earthshine from setting Moon, time-lapse image. The bright waxing crescent phase of the Moon is visible due to sunlight reflected from the Moon. The rest of the Moon is visible due to Earthshine, which is the fainter reflection of sunlight from the Earth to the Moon and back again. This time-lapse sequence was taken in twilight before sunset. Photographed on 18 June 2015, at Alentejo in the Reguengos de Monsaraz region, part of the Dark Sky Alqueva Reserve, Portugal.
