Artist's Description

Mount Fuji and the coast of Japan, seen from space. View from Shuttle Columbia of the Japanese coast, seen during Mission STS-52. The clear white triangular object at centre is the snow-cap of Mount Fuji. Large cloud banks dominate the sky both inshore (background) and out to sea (foreground), with just the coastal zone enjoying clear skies. Mission STS-52 flew on 22 October to 1 November 1992.
