Crab spider (Misumena vatia) feeding on a hoverfly it has caught on a rose flower. The spider is injecting paralysing poison through its fangs into the hoverfly. It will then suck out the contents of the prey. Crab spiders move sideways in order to align themselves with their prey. They use silk as an anchor line and for climbing rather than trapping victims. They are able to change their colouration (over a few days) to mimic the colour of the flower they are hunting on.
