Description
Coyote. View of a coyote (Canis latrans) on the crest of a sand dune. They are sometimes called prairie wolves" as they have an appearance similar to that of the grey wolf. A fully grown coyote has a body length of 95-125 cm, a shoulder height of 45-53 cm, a tail about 40 cm long and a body weight of 15 to 20 kg. Coyotes prey on small rodents, rabbits and dead and rotting flesh. They are most active at night, when they emit their characteristic sharp barks and long howls. Coyotes range from Central America to Alaska. Photographed in Utah, USA."
