Constellation of Aquila. Optical image of the stars of the equatorial constellation of Aquila (the Eagle). Its brightest star is Altair or Alpha Aquilae (blue, centre left). This constellation has 10 main stars. It is one of the 88 modern constellations adopted by the International Astronomical Union in 1922. The nebulae and dust clouds of the Milky Way feature prominently in this constellation.
