Close-up of a common rustic moth (Mesapamea secalis) resting on a branch in a garden habitat. A highly variable moth and formerly a single species split into complex of three species, it is very difficult to tell them apart without microscopic examination. This species is a member of the noctuidae family and the flight period is normally July and August Photographed in Somerset, UK, in July.
