Plastic scourer. Coloured scanning electron micrograph of the fibres of a plastic pan scourer. Large ribbons of nylon are woven into the outer fabric of the scourer to enhance the abrasive properties. This type of scourer is used on non- stick surfaces such as Teflon. Normal steel scourers would quickly abrade the non-stick surface, making it useless. Magnification: x15 at 6x7cm size. x55 at 10x8ins
