Artist's Description

Clothes moth larvae. Larvae of the case bearing clothes moth (Tinea pellionella). This species of clothes moth is less common than the webbing clothes moth. The larvae of this moth feeds on products made from hair, feathers and hide. It is named after the silken case that encapsulates the larvae. The larval stage lasts for around 50 days, followed by a cocoon stage. A female adult can lay from 100-300 eggs during its 30 day lifespan.
