Description
Structural colour (non pigment colour) of a blue and yellow macaw feather (Ara ararauna) is created by randomly orientated nanochannels in a spongelike keratin matrix. The reflections are not arranged in the same direction giving them bright but not strongly irridescent colours that do not change with angle.
