Description
Chinstrap penguins (Pygoscelis antarctica) nesting. Pebbles are used to construct areas to lay their eggs. The distinctive facial markings give the species its name. This penguin feeds mainly on krill and small fish. It inhabits the Antarctic Peninsula and nearby islands. Photographed in summer on Half Moon Island, part of the South Shetland Islands off the tip of the Antarctic Peninsula.
