Description
Healthy chest and neck arteries (orange), coloured angiogram (blood vessel X-ray). The arch of the aorta, the body's main artery, is at bottom centre, appearing blue with thin orange walls. From the top of the arch arise three other blood vessels. From left to right, these are: the right subclavian artery, the left common carotid artery and the left subclavian artery. Oxygenated blood is pumped into the aorta by the heart. The subclavian arteries supply the arms, and the carotid arteries supply the head. The right common carotid artery branches off the right subclavian artery at lower left.
