Description
Catching bedbugs. 18th-century artwork, titled 'Summer Amusement - Bugg Hunting', showing an elderly couple catching bedbugs. These insects feed at night on the blood of warm-blood animals, including humans. Their bite produces itchy swellings on the skin. During the day they live in mattresses, furniture and floors. This aquatint by Scottish caricaturist Isaac Cruikshank (1756-1811), was published in London on 20 August 1782.
