Description
Carbonate rock fragments, close-up. These rock fragments were formed by erosion and weathering of larger pieces of rock. The most common carbonate rock is calcium cabonate (found in limestone). Other carbonate minerals include magnesium carbonate and sodium carbonate. This sample is from Campo Imperatore, the Abruzzi mountains, Italy.
