Description
Canadian Pacific freight train. Canadian Pacific Railway operates over 14,000 kilometres of track across southern Canada. The front diesel-electric locomotive (number CP 9636) is a GE AC4400CW model from GE Transportation Systems. The second locomotive (number CP 9714) is the same model. This model was manufactured between 1993 and 2004. It is a powerful engine, with 4400 horsepower, capable of pulling large cargo trains. Some 38 cargo cars are visible here, but typical freight trains can be over 2 kilometres in length and require more than one locomotive. Photographed by a river in Alberta, Canada.
