Bucket water wheel. Historical illustration of a side view of a water wheel, a device used to convert the energy of running water into rotary motion. This design has bucket-style troughs to carry and channel water. Artwork Artwork from 'Moteurs' (1911) by French civil engineer Max de Nansouty (1854-1913), part of the 'Les merveilles de la science' series of 1867-1891 by Louis Figuier.
