Artist's Description
Bubble Nebula. Hubble Space Telescope (HST) image of the Bubble Nebula (NGC 7635), an emission nebula that is 7 light years across. It has been blown into a bubble shape by a stellar wind from a massive young and hot central star. The colours highlight emission from different elements: doubly ionized oxygen (O III, blue), hydrogen-alpha emission (H-alpha, green), and nitrogen emission (N II, red). The Bubble Nebula is 7100 light years from Earth in the constellation of Cassiopeia. This image was obtained using Hubble's Wide Field Camera 3 (WFC3) and its UVIS (ultraviolet and visible light) channels. The image was obtained on 25-26 February 2016.
