British Museum. Section of a Neo-Classical ionic column (left) and tessellated glass roof in the British Museum, London, UK. The museum was designed by Robert Smirke and built in 1759. The glass roof covers the Queen Elizabeth II Great Court, and was opened in 2000. It was designed by Foster and Partners (Architects) and built by Buro Happold (Engineers).
