Light microscopy of brain gray matter showing neurons stained black with a silver staining method. Only a small fraction of the actual number of neurons take up the silver stain. Many cell processes mostly dendrites and one axon extend radially from the cell body. The surrounding tissue (yellow) consists of glial cells, tightly packed cell processes and blood vessels all of which are not stained with the silver stain. Magnification x70 when printed at 10 cm.
