MODEL RELEASED. Boy watching a plasma globe. A plasma globe is a glass sphere filled with a gas at low pressure with a metal ball charged with electricity at its centre. When the voltage is high enough, the electricity discharges across the sphere to the glass wall. The discharge ionises the gas along its path, causing it to glow. When the boy touches the glass, this attracts the light beams towards the point of contact. The glass insulates his hands from the electric current.
